The Atlas of European Values presents the ideas and beliefs of the Europeans in the form of graphs, charts and maps. This atlas summarizes the outcomes of the European Values Study, combined with results from the World Values Survey, two projects that have measured values over the past three decades. The European Values Study project is run by researchers from 33 countries and is administered by Tilburg University, the Netherlands. Beneath some examples of maps and graphs.

No love for Europe

No love for Europe

Europeans perceive themselves foremost as French, Italian or Polish. Europe has only been accepted in an instrumental and utilitarian way. This rational-based European citizenship leads also to strange apparent contradictions, for example 71% of the Greeks find EU-membership a good thing, but the same percentage have no confidence in the Union. And whereas only 7% of Russians feel European, two-third of the population wants to join the Union.
