Atlas of European Values

The Atlas of European Values presents the ideas and beliefs of the Europeans in the form of graphs, charts and maps. This atlas summarizes the outcomes of the European Values Study, combined with results from the World Values Survey, two projects that have measured values over the past three decades. The European Values Study project is run by researchers from 33 countries and is administered by Tilburg University, the Netherlands. Beneath some examples of maps and graphs.

Least favourite neighbours

Least favourite neighbours

In all European regions except Turkey, there is a marked difference between situational and principled tolerance. People appear to base there level of (in)tolerance on the expected amount of nuisance and annoyance. Drug addicts, heavy drinkers and emotionally unstable people are the least favourite neighbours. Intolerance based on ethnic, racial or religious characteristics (people of other race, Jews, Muslims, immigrants) are less common.
